Agility and Menzies partnered to fund a training program in the UK which assists people with a background of homelessness to access real training opportunities. The program also provides 6 to 12 week placements, allowing trainees to learn the skills needed in the hospitality sector through on the job training alongside wrap around support from our social impact team. The program will train 20 people / year.

In Jordan, Agility has supported the Children of War Foundation (CoWF) with its mission to provide specialized pediatric surgical care to children. With Agility’s support, CoWF were able to reach 1,110+ children in less than three weeks. All of the children had been waitlisted for surgical care during the COVID-19 pandemic. The children were triaged and assessed prior to the COWF team arrival with the help of local clinicians in Jordan and through remote telehealth technology. Children were prioritized by severity and complexity of medical conditions, which allowed for those in need of sub-specialized care that is either unavailable or unaffordable, to be provided while the specialized pediatric team was on the ground. Medical procedures included craniofacial and plastic reconstructive surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, anesthesia, as well as general surgery, radiology, cardiology, pediatric medicine, dentistry, nursing, and surgical technology support.

To further supplement the medical outreach initiative, CoWF held a two-day high level symposium with guest lecturers from Tier 1 US academic institutions, to help build capacity on the ground. The symposium will enable local medical teams to independently provide some of these surgeries and treatments in the future.

We are proud to support the CoWF team, and we’re grateful to the many medical professionals that donated significant time and efforts to helping these children receive critically important, free and world-class medical care.

Agility is working to support UNHCR and other NGOs around the world in their efforts to support refugees and internally displaced people in Ukraine, reaching 1,700 people to date:

  • Agility held an internal fundraiser for UNHCR, in support of their Ukraine refugee response. UNHCR is working inside Ukraine as well as in neighbouring countries, providing critically needed relief items and protection services. All donated funds were matched by Agility.
  • Agility supported the Children of War Foundation by donating the transportation of three pallets of medical and life support supplies from Los Angeles, California to Krakow, Poland. The supplies were taken to Lviv, Ukraine by ambulance, and distributed to beneficiaries.
  • Working with Shipa Delivery, Agility transported two lorries of refugee items for the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) for onward delivery to Romania. All items were donated by the local community in Kuwait. The KRCS is delivering them by air to Romania where they will be distributed to refugees. The donations included food, medicine, and other items that are needed by refugees.
  • Agility has also been working closely with the UN Global Logistics Cluster in their response to the crisis.

Agility announced that it is sponsoring Dr. William Novick and his team on a mission to Al Rachaya in Lebanon to provide pediatric cardiology education, experience and essential training to the medical team at The Rachaya Governmental Hospital, in partnership with The Pure Heart Foundation.

Dr. Novick is a pediatric cardiac surgeon who has been leading medical teams to treat children with heart disease for more than 28 years. He created a foundation to care for children with heart disease in low- and middle-income countries  around the world. Over the years Dr. Novick has recruited a group of clinical experts in the field of pediatric cardiac care who share his passion and vision to help eradicate the suffering caused by congenital heart disease in LMIC.

The aim of the Novic Cardiac Alliance in Lebanon is to upskill and train the local medical team at The Rachaya Governmental Hospital to be able to provide pediatric cardiac care independently at the conclusion of the program.

Dr. Novick and his team conducted four trips to Lebanon since 2020, with a plan to do four trips annually for a period of four years. During each trip, the team has intervened either surgically or in the interventional cardiac catheterization laboratory on 14-16 children. In addition, the program trains surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionist, catheterization lab assistants, cardiologist, operating room nurses, ICU nurses, ward nurses, echo lab technicians, and at least 8 medical students each trip. The total local staff trained to date is nearly 35.

The Lebanese students that join the program hail from medical schools across the country. They are exposed to all facets of pediatric cardiac care during their time in the program

In March 2022, Agility raised funds for its long-time partner UNHCR to support refugees fleeing conflict in Ukraine. Donated funds assisted UNHCR as it provided assistance to more than six million people that fled the fighting. Funding was used to support UNHCR teams at the borders in Poland and other neighbouring countries to support national authorities in providing assistance and protection to people fleeing. Agility’s donation enabled 62 families, or approximately 250 individuals, to have required essentials.

In March 2022, the Ukrainian community in Kuwait held a donations campaign to support refugees and displaced persons in Ukraine and other countries. The community collected over 200 boxes of materials including food, medicines, sanitary items, clothing and other materials needed by refugees. Agility’s partners in Shipa Delivery transported the donated items to KRCS, which then transported them to Romania where they were distributed to Ukrainian refugees.

Agility continues to support the Kuknoor and Mothe schools in Central India; 2022 marks the fifth year of the partnership. Agility’s support includes funding for teachers and facilities maintenance team members, as well as stationary and school supplies and equipment for the kids. In addition, Agility team members also volunteer to teach the children physical fitness, Hindi and other topics.

In 2022, Agility continued to support its long-time partner LOYAC, with their KON and KONtinue programs. The programs was targeted towards Kuwaiti youth, and taught them how to innovate new ideas that could be turned into business opportunities. The programs also taught them the different aspects of business start up and management, including finance, marketing and other functions. The KONtinue program is tailored to young adults who have previously participated in the KON program. Throughout 2022, roughly 110 people participated in the program, including students, mentors and volunteers.
