Expediting peak season volumes from China to South America

With an established network of department stores and supermarkets in four South American countries, one retail customer had advanced logistics processes, but needed establishing a procurement office in China. Agility stepped in to process purchase orders and handle shipments using systems directly linked to the retailer’s own. During one peak season, Agility’s warehouse in Shenzhen, China, processed more than 800,000 units, receiving purchase order information from vendors and separating merchandize down to SKU levels according to delivery directives. Agility then transferred the pre-packed containers filled with holiday merchandise to shipping lines. This process saved both time and money as containers received at the retailer’s South American distribution center could be forwarded directly to stores in Colombia and Chile, avoiding costly demurrage charges and further processing delays.
