The Indian government has recently announced an extension of the nationwide lockdown until 31 May 2020. During this period customs clearance will be operational 24/7 and rail cargo continues to operate as normal. Road freight movements to and from the ports remain disrupted due to an ongoing shortage of drivers. All port terminals, container freight stations and inland container depots are now operational, but activities are limited due to a shortage of staff. Domestic and international commercial flights remain suspended until 31 May. However, airlines are moving freight and have converted a number of passenger aircraft to handle cargo movements in and out of India.
