Suez Canal Blocked by Container Ship (March 29, 2021)

As of the 29 March, dredging operations during the weekend removed approximately 20,000 tons of soil and resulted in the partial re floating of the EVER GIVEN at 04:30am this morning, local time. Although the vessel has moved 102 feet, the canal remains blocked. The THSD Causeway registered in Cyprus, is also en-route to the scene to provide additional dredging capacity. The vessel is anticipated to arrive by 30 March, 2021. Manoeuvres are set to be resumed once again during high tide at Midday local time today as it will reach 2m, allowing for the positioning of the vessel in the Middle of the waterway.

The incident continues to create long tailbacks on the waterway, stopping vessels from passing and causing severe delays.
