Experience in challenging environments enables smooth movement of oversized cargo in South America
Moving oversized cargo is a challenge; add variables like civil unrest, road strikes, insubstantial roads and bridges, and holiday schedule delays, and you need Agility. Agility moved two large break-bulk shipments containing compressor sets and ancillary products from the U.S. to Yacuiba in the deep south of Bolivia, via Chile. The variable delays led to the expiry of road permits, so Agility made up time by pre-alerting customs agents with required documentation to smooth the way for cross-border clearance from Chile into Bolivia. Agility also took detours through fields when bridges and small village roads proved too fragile for two massive loads, the largest comprised of 94 pallets and crates weighing 282 metric tons. Consignments arrived safe and damage-free.
Moving 1,200 tons of critical parts door-to-door to support building boom in the Philippines
An eight-member, on-site Agility team provides supply chain expertise to a Mexican-based global building materials industry leader. The customer relies on Agility to support procurement, project management and technology operations. Agility’s deep understanding of the environment and the customer’s growth strategy enables us to be entrusted with moving critical parts, equipment and machinery while providing a high-level overview of the supply chain so the customer can maintain efficiency and control costs. In support of the customer’s growth, Agility arranged a door-to-door parts charter shipment of 1,200 tons (4,600 cubic meters) for the expansion of a cement and building materials plant in the Philippines, where infrastructure and housing construction are booming.
Streamlining global supply chain with control tower and 4PL approach
A customer operating divisions on four continents with round-the-clock demands needed relief from day-to-day logistics issues, as well as tighter management of its international supply chain. Agility provided a control tower model with an integrated traditional 4PL model to deliver a full suite of integrated supply chain services under a single umbrella. Agility worked as “general contractor” to orchestrate services from other providers, such as truckers, freight forwarders, wharf transport operators and customs agents, while also handling account management tasks like booking, invoicing and financial processing. Agility streamlined and reduced costs of administrative processes, and our tracking tool boosted visibility of the customer’s freight in more than 60 manufacturing sites.
