Restoring temporary power to Cyprus after severe explosion

On July 11, 2011, an explosion occurred at the Evangelos Florakis Naval Base. The accident was the result of 98 containers of explosives having been stored in the sun for two and a half years. The resulting explosion caused severe damage to the island’s largest power station at Vassiliko; this station is responsible for supplying over half of Cyprus’s electricity. We undertook the logistics for Energy International, which supplied 100 mobile generators to the Cypriot government. We moved the generators immediately, minimizing disruption across Cyprus.
