Pumping savings into a bicycle manufacturer’s growth plans

While laying plans for future growth, a leading European bicycle manufacturer enlisted Agility to provide strategies for cost effective supply chain solutions. Logistics experts at Agility Switzerland developed a high-level virtual model that illuminated inbound and outbound flows. This exercise enabled the manufacturer to determine the optimum number and location of future distribution centers. The model also improved transparency to actual product volume flows and a view of the company’s overall supplier base. Based on Agility Switzerland’s data analysis and evaluation of assorted options, the company was better able to see its way forward, and put cost saving approaches such as customer and product segmentation into practice, along with innovative logistics concepts like purchase order and inventory management systems and contracted assembly. Advanced planning with help from Agility created a roadmap for future implementation of a robust worldwide supply chain.
